Sibelius Exhibition at Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki
The 150th Anniversary of the birth of the Finnish national composer is full of events and exhibitions.
The Finnish National Gallery building is a beautiful piece of art.
This picture is taken earlier this year when the building was under maintenance.
I recommend visiting the Sibelius exhibition for two reasons: if you haven't visited the gallery before it is as beautiful inside as it is from the outside. Second, the exhibition is composed of different kind of elements, which are paintings, sculptures and music. Music was not the first thing that I would have thought to be present. Sibelius travelled a lot and there are several items that are related to this theme.
The exhibition also is a good way to travel through the years when Finland was still a Grand Duchy and eventually became an independent country in 1917. All this happened during the lifetime of Jean Sibelius (1865-1957).
The exhibition is open until 22rd March, so hurry up! To find out more about the exhibition and the museum, click here.
